Sandy Song - Artist

I am a student at Granite Bay High School, California. I wish to advance in my path toward becoming a professional artist. Thus, I took Art 3, Art 4, Art 5, and AP Studio Art Drawing chronologically throughout my secondary education.
Art has fascinated me in many ways throughout my life. Whether it was sketching, painting, or doodling, I love every style of expressing my passion for art. I have been taking art lessons since I was in 2nd grade. During the first two years, I took a class on Chinese Painting, and it was life-changing. It was so different from the style of art I was used to that it drew a brand new world in front of my eyes. It helped me see the CREATIVITY I could master with various styles of art. After moving from my hometown in China to the United States, I took art classes in my new elementary school. Soon, I was in a Texas middle school, and I chose art as my elective for all three years when I was there. Later on, I moved again - this time to California. Unfortunately, I could not fit art into my schedule during my freshman year of high school. I decided that no matter what, I would make room for it next year, and I did. As a sophomore, I successfully got admitted into Art 3 because of my confidence and determination. Plus, I have already taken art almost every school year, had numerous private lessons outside of school, and went to an art summer school as well. After taking Art 3, I did even better in Art 4 - learning new painting techniques and improving my artistic skills. In my senior year, I took on a great challenge, pushed myself further than ever before, and continued my creative, passionate journey in Art 5 and AP Studio Art Drawing. I will never give up on art, on the thing I love.

Paints and colors are my words, brushes and pens are my voice, the canvas and paper are how I communicate, my perception of life, my lens of the world and future, and where imagination takes over and the surreal and reality blend.
