I learned numerous new things, including brush types (bright and round brush), brush strokes and techniques to apply textures, color application - when to use cool or warm colors, and blending. For instance, when painting the sky, one must scrub using a round brush and change color every five seconds. The clouds are generally lighter and more defined on the top and blurry at the bottom. I also like adding multiple layers of clouds to create depth and complexity in my painting.
Painting 1

"First Snow" Acrylic on canvas Dimensions: 24'' x 30'' Sandy Song
Currently, I am finished with one. I remember when I first started painting it, I had no clue about what I was doing and ended up making a "worm" tree where the branches were all weird and wiggly. After I received guidance from my teacher, I was able to fix it and added three more "normal" trees. The snow required some serious touch-ups as well because it was too white, so I added dirt patches and layers of snow that got lighter and lighter. Also, I darkened the mountains quite a bit, made sure the peaks were clean, added texture and layers, and some snow as finishing touches.
Painting 2

"Silent Spring" Acrylic on canvas Dimensions: 30'' x 40'' Sandy Song
Clearly, from looking at my second acrylic painting, I have improved dramatically as an artist. Likewise, this canvas was much bigger than the last! It took me nearly two months to finish it, but it was rewarding when I did. I love it! Everything, the trees, rocks, snow, dirt, fur on the rabbit girl, and mountains looked much better than the previous one (I still like it because it was my first ever painting of such scale). I painted neater and more detailed as well and made sure every brushstroke and color applied was meaningful. The creek was by far the most successful and enjoyable thing I painted in this artwork, and the rabbit girl turned out super cute!

Nonetheless, I could not have done it without the help of my awesome art teacher.
